We have a tendency, however, to second guess the greatness within us.
From the moment of conception we begin to develop in synchronization with what is going on around us. At birth our minds could be compared to newly manufactured computers; until they're programmed there is not much there, but the potential is great. So how do our minds become programmed? That job falls to parents, or other caregivers, family friends, teachers, our friends, books, TV, movies and myriad other sources of which we are not at the time aware.
Scientific studies indicate that our basic operating system is programmed in by age six. That means that by age six, we have within us the basis for everything we will ever believe, know or think. Who and what we are has already been determined to a great degree.
While hopefully loving parents would not program us for failure, in most cases all they have to give us is what they have to give us. For example: If your parents don't understand Einstein's theory of relativity, they can't explain it to you. That's an extreme example, I know, but the point is that most of us arrive on Planet Earth and just get in line. We follow our parents, just as they followed theirs, and they followed theirs... and so on.
Granted, there is an age at which we seemingly rebel. "I'm not going to be like my parents" becomes either a mantra or a battle cry, depending on your demeanor. As pre-teens and teenagers we begin to meet a wider range of people. We make friends and discover that they think differently about things... or at least differently than we do. Where did they get these thoughts and ideas? They got them from their parents and/or caregivers. While you may discover nuances in their beliefs that seem vastly different from yours and adopt them, in most cases all you're doing is substituting the limiting beliefs of their parents for the limiting beliefs of yours.
Have no doubt about it. Your parents or caregivers programmed your mind, unwittingly perhaps, but they did program your mind. We call that Original Faulty ProgrammingTM. So many of the things they programmed in there are so subtle that you have no idea they're there. There are some things that are obviously programmed and taught, but most of it seems completely natural and you tend to just go with the flow.
Our well-meaning parents, in an effort to protect us, say things such as: don't run with scissors, you'll fall and stab yourself; don't climb on the chair, you'll fall and break your neck; don't cross the street, you'll get hit by a car; don't talk to strangers, you can't trust strangers; button your coat or you'll get pneumonia and wind up in the hospital. All these well-intended admonitions are designed to protect us as children. But they actually protect us as adults, as well. The problem is that as adults they protect us from success, the acquisition of abundance and the life we so desperately want.
This whole programming thing can be really complicated, but once you get it -- I mean, really GET IT -- THE SECRET ABUNDANCE FILES will give you what you need to overcome it and that will change your life.
